A Devoted Tea Drinker's Favourite Mug's

There is nothing more relaxing than curling up on the sofa in your PJ's with your favourite mug filled with tea. But, I’m a tad fussy when it comes to mugs to drink my beloved tea from - please tell me I’m not the only one?! 

The cup has to be big enough so you can get the most tea, yet not too big that you strain your hand each time you go for a sip, the handle has to be sturdy enough that it doesn’t feel like your tea cup will snap and spill all over you. And not to forget it should have a pretty design on (who wants to drink their tea out of a boring mug?!) 

Weird - I know, but I can't help buying cute mugs I don't really need! All my mugs have memories attached to them; some have been presents from loved ones and some souvenirs from random places I have visited. 

So, today I thought I would share some of my all time favourite mug's with you:

The first one is fondly referred to as the swimming pool mug by me and my family, because it's one of the biggest mugs I have ever seen! This one I brought at the Harry Potter studios in London. I fell in love with this mug, as I'm a huge Harry Potter fan.

The size of this mug is ridiculous, now as much as I love tea I could never have a full cup of tea in this gigantic mug, I can only manage half a cup!

Next up is a gift I received on my 17th birthday. This one is slightly more normal sized, what I love about this mug is the fact there is room to put some (two to be exact) of your fave biscuits. Only down side of this mug is the fact that the handle is too small.

I can't find the exact one that I have as it was a gift, yet this one is very similar (here)

Finally, I love using this 'First Class Tea Drinker' mug which literally sums me up...

Ramblings of a Devoted Tea Drinker Turns 1!!

Today is a very special day for Ramblings of a Devoted Tea Drinker, as it celebrates its first birthday. 1 year ago today I nervously uploaded my very first blog post and entered the world of blogging. I can't believe it’s been a whole year already! It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun (sorry couldn’t’t resist adding that cliché)

Starting a blog was something that I have always wanted to do. Although I haven’t uploaded as often as I had hoped, my blog has become a huge part of my life over the past year and I’m very proud of my little space on the internet.  

Moving onto my second year of blogging my number one goal is to post more frequently. Ironically my biggest fear when I began blogging was running out of ideas, but in reality I  have found more inspiration for future blog posts than time, here's hoping I can share these ideas with you in the near future.

Another goal for the year is to refresh the look of Ramblings of a Devoted Tea Drinker. If you have been visiting my blog for a while you may have noted that the design of my blog has changed several times over the last year - I never seem to be 100% happy with it (please tell me I’m not the only one??). After several attempts of designing merely acceptable blog banners via Microsoft Word I have finally admitted defeat. So in the next year I hope to purchase a blog design that I am 100% happy with...or at least 99%!!

To end today's post I just want to say a big thank you to anyone who has ever stopped by for a read, comment, offered words of encouragement or even found this blog helpful for their next afternoon tea trip. 

I look forward to sharing more of my experiences and ramblings with you all in the next year! :)

Welcome!

Hi there!

So, couple of months back I wrote a bucket list of all the wonderful, tad unrealistic things I wanted to do in this unforgettable summer – like experiencing the big apple at Christmas…hmm think I got the wrong season, I did tell you the list was a ‘bit’ unrealistic to do  this summer.

One of the things on the bucket list that I have desperately wanted to do for a while was start my very own blog! So, I’m 16 which means I finished my GCSE’s back in June which means I have had one of the longest summers of my life – about 11ish weeks and now on the 16^th August 2014, 9 weeks into my summer with only 2 weeks left I have taken the plunge into the deep end and have decided to upload my very first blog post (eek). For weeks now I have deliberated over potential blog names, some very exciting ones, some terribly cringy ones and some that have already been taken (sigh). From the start, ‘Ramblings of a devoted tea drinker’ just seemed to stand out for me, I just thought it had a nice ring to it – don’t you think? Eventually, after a month of being indecisive ‘RAMBLINGS OF A DEVOTED TEA DRINKER’ was born!

Now enough of my ramblings bet you are all wondering what I will be babbling on about in my posts, from the name of my blog you can probably guess I love a good old cuppa! However, this blog is much more than just tea…ok I have a confession to make…I’m sort of an afternoon tea fanatic (who isn't?) I just love the tradition, the elegance, and the old school charm! Oh and of course all those yummy pastries that come with the cuppa! I admit before my sister took me to my very first afternoon tea 3 years ago at the Cedar Court Grand Hotel in York I thought that afternoon tea was just something you see in shows like downtown abbey.

Here I am, to share my love of all things afternoon tea related with fellow afternoon tea enthusiasts. In future posts I will be sharing my very honest thoughts about different cafes and hotels I have visited for afternoon tea in order for you to get the best afternoon tea experience (you can thank me later), some reviews of some random cute cake shops or even possibly how to make your very own afternoon tea! I am attempting to make you love afternoon tea as much as I do and I hope you get some enjoyment out of my ramblings. However, most importantly just talk about my love (obsession) and experiences of afternoon tea with a few off tangent rants thrown in!

I am currently working on a very exciting review on the afternoon tea I went to for my sister’s birthday at The Langham London…so keep your eyes peeled for that! :)
